Live in Atlanta- have always been a snapshot photographer Decided a couple of years ago to try and get better. Plunked down the money for new laptops and new software (currently PS3). Started watching Pod casts to help the learning curve. (If you have not- I highly recommend that you do- go to I-Tunes and enter photography or something similar and hundreds are out there). One Podcast that caught my eye is Photowalkthrough, made by a bloke from the UK by the name of John Arnold. He is a great photographer and a wonderful teacher, I highly recommend his podcast. His Podcast was my incentive to join Flickr. I am grateful for his Pod casts and the fact that they led me here.

I do a lot of work for friends, some of which I have posted, but the majority I choose to keep off line or the images were taken by others and I simply try to make them into something special. I do not feel it is appropriate to upload another persons image, even if it is totally different after the Post Processing.

I did not know what to expect on Flickr- and have been pleasantly surprised at the number of great images floating around on here.

I am not a professional, and my "real" job takes up quite a bit of my time. When work is busy, I get limited time to spend on the site. I actually wish I had more time to spend behind the camera, a lot of the images I do get to take are particularly technical documentary in nature (and quite boring...) so when I do get to practice it is not something that anyone would really like to see.

All that being said, I have made some good friends here, some who live across oceans. The Internet is a truly remarkable medium that we can enjoy, and I am really glad Al Gore invented it;O)

I wish you all the best!

Tom

Me, being from the southern part of Norway, really got my eyes open for Tom and his photography when I recognized some of his pictures being from the city where I work. I commented on his beautiful pictures and we have been commenting on each other’s pictures and sending mail from that moment. I really appreciate Tom and his kind, gentile way. He takes beautiful pictures and have become a true master in restoration of old photos. His friendship means a lot to me.
