The ROM Library & Archives is located in the Royal Ontario Museum, one of the world’s leading museums of natural history and world cultures. Our holdings include books, periodicals, rare books, and manuscripts related to the Museum’s collections and research activities, as well as the Museum’s records.

The Main Library maintains extensive collections in the fields of anthropology, archaeology, botany, costume, Canadiana, entomology, geology, herpetology, ichthyology, invertebrate zoology, mammalogy, mineralogy, museology, paleontology, textiles, and the decorative arts.
The H.H. Mu Far Eastern Library specializes in the fine and decorative arts of Asia, Islamic art and culture, Asian archaeology, and Egyptology. The library also has books on related subjects such as history, geography, numismatics, science, religion, social life and customs and even sports.
The ROM Archives are housed in the Main Library. The Archives contain records from the entire history and pre-history of the Museum, as well as the private records of many individuals and organizations associated with the Museum.

Visit Us
The ROM Libraries and Archives are open to the public each weekday except holidays. There is no admission charge.
Access to the Main Library and Sackler Reading Room is via the ROM main entrance on Bloor Street. Ask at the Admissions Desk for a free pass and directions to the Main Library, located on the 1st Floor.
Access to the H. H. Mu Far Eastern Library is via the Staff Entrance, where all visitors must sign in and be escorted to the Library on the 6th floor.
