The pictures you see on Flickr are a collection of my Spanish adventures beginning more than 45 years ago and continuing to the present. I hope we can connect with other Spain enthusiasts – the Spaniards are remarkable people who have a lot to teach us.

I have been deeply involved with Spain and her people since I first came ashore in 1965. I was a newlywed Navy chaplain (Anglican) assigned to destroyers, and was immediately attracted to a culture where children are cherished from birth, and are sustained throughout their lives through the family solidarity of their family.

My wife Ruth and I, and later our three sons, have traveled the highways and byways of Spain for decades. We discover and befriend villagers and artisans who produce the best of traditional Spanish food. In 1996, we formed a family company La Tienda www.tienda.com/ to bring the very best of what we love in Spain to America – and lately to other parts of Europe through the Internet.

Tim is the gifted entrepreneur conversant with the world eCommerce. Jonathan, a sculptor at W&M maintains the face of the company through product selection and graphic design. Currently their brother Chris is a US diplomat serving in Madrid.

Me? I was raised in Greater Boston; went to school at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg Virginia, University of Iowa, Claremont Graduate School, and the Graduate Theological Union (CDSP in Berkeley. I held a commission in the US Coast Guard, and then the U.S. Navy chaplain core where I retired as a captain.
