Spring 2026 Update: Flickr suspended my account (again!) but I’m back (for now)… It’s not great. I was unsure whether people could even see or read anything I posted and managing my group was difficult. Flickr had killed my main account and my group almost died with the loss of that account as other admins were also lost when Flickr changed the rules. It seems good now but I have a tough time trusting SmugFlickr. I’m sick of being punished by the Smug owners for making this sight a better place. I don’t want to pay a stupid subscription fee and now it feels more like a ransom anyways. This is definitely impacting my connection to the sight.
Rant over. Thx for listening... Update (again) I've had my account reinstated after removing (mostly) beach shots of family and others in bikini bottoms.
…
I’m an amateur photographer but have had a camera in one form or another for many decades. Initially I started this Flickr account at an inopportune time and then quickly lost myself in a million other things. Life is like that and keeps us busy and distracted. I strayed for a while and I did not tend to my photos or the site. It’s a pattern… coming and going, becoming engaged then losing interest and so on.
I have tried to be more active and appreciative of the experience of being here for the past while and have enjoyed the experience. The amount of great photographers and artists here on Flickr is overwhelming and a bit intimidating...LoL, but I love their works and learn a lot through their (your) vision. I will never be as good as the many artists I admire, but it's about the journey anyways. I have certainly enjoyed the people I have met along the way but Flickr seems to be doing what it can to drive artists away.
I love nature/landscape photography and am particularly drawn to trees for some reason...but I also love portraits, candid moments, nudes, flowers, twilight, beaches, silhouettes and abstracts as well as whole host of other subjects. I do not have any fancy equipment or software but I make do. I only ever had one new camera and one new lens. I fell while out hiking in the winter 15 years ago and broke both. Everything else has been acquired second hand or is a hand me down. I will probably never learn to use any modern photo-processing software. I just like to take the pictures.
I know that I have a lot to learn and believe that I can grow better just by looking at your photos and art. As i said, I am overwhelmed by the bounty of beauty to be found here but am inspired by it too. I love comments and to comment if I see something that catches my eye. I am open to learning through constructive critiques and can say that my comments will be honest and meant in a positive way. I wouldn't be commenting if I didn't like the image already.
These are mostly just some shots of nature, me, my muse and my family out and about in the world. Most of the photos are relatively recent and are of us and life out and bout. I’m in my 60’s and we've been together well over 30 years. We are not too worked up about staying fit (just surviving seems hard enough at times… LOL) but like to get out in the yard and nature and stay active. It drives her crazy but I will take pics of literally anything and feel honoured to be surrounded by such beauty. I hope that you enjoy this offering of photos from our life together and the sites we see along the way.
Cheers!
