I live at high level (the tenth floor) in Wood Green, London, UK. I like to take pictures from this elevation, which is about 100 feet (or 30 metres) above ground floor level. I like to explore different light conditions such as the spectacular Orange hour before sunset, and the equivalent time in the early morning, all with the additional perspective from the elevated viewpoint of my external balcony.
I also enjoy shadows and sunlight, restricted light, high contrast, rain, water, snow, mist and fog, and reflections. The public realm, and dilapidation and neglect are key themes.
In 2022, I got much more into wild birds (especially waterbirds) and dragonflies and damselflies, based on regular visits to the unofficial nature reserves all along the New River in North London. There were mollucs, butterflies, and spiders too, in season. Now I have got into arachnids, bettles and all the other mini-beasts of the hedgerows.
The main camera I use at present is a hand held Canon EOS, and there are also images taken with other devices; and historic family photos, and some images from other sources that I think deserve an airing.
