I like to collect pictures, art ephemera and the detritus of former ages.

As Proust teaches us: 'aesthetically the number of human types is so restricted that we must constantly, wherever we may be, have the pleasure of seeing people we may know.'

Thus, we are never really alone, in time or place, and in viewing photographs or paintings we see old friends, or people we wish we knew.
