Six Renewable Energy Precincts were established across NSW (covering 47 local government areas) in 2010 to promote and encourage renewable energy development in NSW - in the New England North West, Upper Hunter, Central West, NSW/ACT Cross Border Region, Snowy-Monaro and the South Coast Precincts (Precincts_Map_20100825.jpg, 390kB). The Precincts are a community partnership initiative in areas where significant future renewable energy development is expected – especially wind farms – designed to give local communities a voice and a stake in renewable energy development.
