My name is Briana Sharkey and I was born on June 30th the year of 1995 in Portland, Oregon. I moved to Vancouver just about 4 years ago where I began my 8th grade year in middle school. When it comes to school that has always been a priority to me, I have known what I want to do with my life ever sense I was a little girl. My ambition in life is to become a Neonatal Nurse and study at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. A lot of people ask me why I want to go there because it is so far away from home. Well in a way the answer is within the question. I am ready to get a fresh start when I graduate the year of 2013, and begin a new journey. The atmosphere there is just beautiful, located between mountains offering a fantastic view. My family has been somewhat supportive of me throughout the years, however I have learned to become independent and not depend on others so much. When I am not at school I am most likely at work. I work at McDonalds, serving to those around. When people think of fast food for a job, they most always turn their head. But for me, the thought I think about is, it’s a job; and that’s all that matters. Life isn’t about the best; it’s about what you do to get to the best.
Photography hasn’t always been a part of my life. I have always loved taking pictures but never actually put it into perspective. Now after taking photography as a class, I have learned to express through photos. When I take a photo it has meaning, can tell a story, and that’s all that it takes. Beauty is within; something my mom always told me.
I am a child of a split family; my parents got divorced when I was just a few months old. I have one real brother who is 21 and studying at Washington State University in the criminal justice field. I also have a 12 year old half sister and 11 year old have brother whom we have the same dad but not mom. To me life is a journey, there will always be the ups and downs, but in the end happiness is all that matters. Everyone deserves to be happy. It’s crazy to believe I am going to be a senior next year, it’s pretty bittersweet. I’m looking forward to entering the adulthood and begin my life; but until then I have one more year and I plan to enjoy it.
