Photography is an expression of your view on the world. I'm Chris, I'm a photography student in CO. Before I started actually taking pictures I do not think I could actually SEE. I started taking pictures when I was about 13. I got the brand new I pod touch with a camera. Its an 8mm without any zoom capability. It was about the size of a pencil eraser. I would find something that I thought was pretty, bring my camera up to my eye and take a picture. Now I use a Nikon DX D60 SLR with three different lenses.

I think the more you think about a shot, the better you can make it. Even with the combination of lenses and technology these days photography is still a very personal and stylized art form. Personally the pictures that draw my attention are photos that mean something. If you take a snap shot of a room without thinking about it, it will not turn out as good as a photograph that you planned and worked with.

I think that most photography is finding a good subject matter and taking an interesting picture of it. Also a picture of something can be easily made by using the rules of photography such as rule of thirds. When taking photographs you have the world at your disposal. If you can find something with amazing color then it can be one of the most powerful tools in a photograph. Being able to capture the beauty of a landscape in a picture is another interesting skill needed. You can alter a picture to look even better than it does in really life. Those are the pictures that I love. The ones that are of real life, but even better.

There is some things in the world that no one can see clearly. You can see anything if you try looking. But we shut our eyes to them on purpose because they are to hard to see. That is why we shut our eyes. I think photographs let us see through someone else's eyes. So even if we are blind because we shut our eyes, we are still able to see the world through photographs.

Photography is showing the world what you see in it. That's why everyone's style is slightly different even if they have the same subject matter and lighting. Right now my objective in photography is to try and find my own style and discover how I view the world.

If you get a chance to look at my site, then critique and praise is always welcome.

Thanks, Chris

All of your photos have great color and contrast. One of the photos that really stands out is the "Hang On" photo of the monkey bars.

Chris you are a fantastic portrait photographer, no matter how much you say you would rather shoot inanimate objects. The way you capture people tells a story and has a contagious emotion. Even shots that would be bland in a verbal description have moods that run rampant through a picture. Your concepts are brilliant! … Read more

I wish that I could make my photos grasp a false story as well as yours can.
