Chewie Fitzgerold Keefe, is a spunky 9-½ year old Chihuahua and Miniature Doberman mix. The first three months of his life are unknown, he was found on the streets of Springfield Massachusetts by the local pound with three broken legs. After his rescue, Chewie endured the next six months at the pound’s medical unit to recover from his injuries and kennel cough. When Chewie was nine months old I walked into the pound and was told that there was a dog scheduled to be put down, I saw him through the glass, and knew that fate had brought me there specifically for him. People may view this as me saving him, rather, he saved me and changed my life for the better. For the past 8 years Chewie and I have been inseparable. Chewie has not only brought joy and happiness to my life but brings it to anyone who crosses his path, I have never met anyone who hasn’t completely fallen head over heels in love with him. Unfortunately we have hit an hurdle which we cannot jump on our own, so I am trying to pull every resource available to ensure Chewie’s health and a bright future.

A heart murmur

Cracked teeth

This is a LIFE THREATENING condition because much like in people with rotten teeth, Chewie’s tooth rot will cause an infection to travel through his bloodstream, which will ultimately cause his heart to fail.

To remove these teeth, Chewie will have to undergo x-rays prior to the dental procedure to check his heart and ensure his ability to undergo Anesthesia, in addition he will receive a variety of different medications during the procedure to help his heart and prevent it from failing. All of this cost a pretty penny that I just cannot afford. I am a full time student and also work full time which still only allows enough money to pay my rent, bills and food costs. Chewie can live a long and happy life if he gets this procedure, I am reaching out to people who are willing and able to help his cause. Simply put… Chewie’s life can be saved.
