VIVEK SOOD

Vivek Sood , born 1967 in Dharmsala, Himachal Pradesh, started painting at the age of 9. He can be called a born artist who is completely self -taught as a painter. He has lived all his life in the verdant Kangra Valley and his work, mostly in acrylic and water colour, deals with the human exploration of Nature . Through some of his bewitching black and white paintings, he ‘gazes’ at Nature with a remarkable tenderness- a tenderness that can be found in the Romantic poets of the nineteenth century. Men ,women , children also populate his canvas, telling tales of their happiness and woe. His works also deals with human behaviour and the human form. Though his work has mellowed over the years , he still retains that rawness which entices us to the new talent. His work has been widely exhibited across the country and has been well received. Awards and scholarships have been given to him in recognition of his talent and work. Vivek Sood , married , with two children , currently teaches English in a college at Dharmsala.
