Wildlife photographer from New Delhi, India, working mostly in black and white.

My father, the photographer Nanak Dhingra, took me into India's national parks from the age of seven — Corbett, Kanha, Bandhavgarh, Ranthambhore and many more — and I have been going back to the forests ever since. Tigers remain the centre of my work, but the pictures that stay with me are the ones that place an animal in its world. Stripped of colour, what is left is light, form and the moment.

Current project: Legacy — three generations of one Ranthambhore tiger family, descendants of the tigress Machli, followed through a single season. Full series and family tree: www.sahildhingraphoto.com/legacy
