Stunning Dublin born singer / songwriter Roberta Howett has a musical background grounded in classical training with The Royal Academy of Music. Her first foray into music started at the age of just six & between the ages of ten and fifteen, she was a Feis Ceoil winner multiple times across choral, solo vocalist and piano categories. During her early teens, Roberta performed as a solo lead vocalist in Dublin’s world renowned National Concert Hall.
Roberta first graced our screens in 2004, when she reached the live finals of the X-Factor. Over 50,000 applicants applied for the series & she sang her way to become one of the final 9, receiving accolades from Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and ultimately being championed by Sharon Osbourne. Roberta went on to do a full UK arena tour with the finalists including performances in Wembley and the Manchester Arena.
With the X-Factor complete, Roberta moved to London permanently to gain further experience and develop her own composing skills. In 2008, she put out a taster to radio in the form of the hauntingly beautiful ‘Shadows’ which gained radio play on national Irish radio station Today FM (song of the week) and many local stations. Ray Foley from Today FM chose ‘Shadows’ to feature on Downloadmusic.ie’s innovative best of unsigned Irish Artists ‘USB Key’ compilation album. In February 2010, Roberta decided to release her debut single independently. ’Beautiful Lies’ was released and entered the Irish Charts at number 23, and download charts at number 20. She then went on to sing each week on RTE’s hit saturday night show ‘Tonight with Craig Doyle’ as part of the house band.
Roberta continues to perform throughout Ireland and abroad. She is one of four girls who make up FanFair, the stunning new group set to light up the UK music industry in 2011 with their unique sound. The group comprises four sophisticated, charming and fun girls in their twenties from all over the UK and Ireland, creating a unique and special formula - www.fanfairmusic.com. She has also sung alongside Ronan Keating, Chris de Burgh and Brian Kennedy. She is constantly ”in demand” both as a backing vocalist and co-writer for Irish Artists.
Roberta cites Minni Ripperton, Carole King and Annie Lennox as influences on her musical style and singing career to date.
