My name is Ian Lacey and on July 16th 2011, I set out on my bicycle with a friend from Prudhoe Bay, Alaska and am aiming to cycle over 17,000 miles to Ushusia, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina. This brings me from the northernmost town accessible by road in the Americas to the southernmost city in the world. (Since La Paz, Mexico myself and Lee have gone our separate ways)

This journey will take up to 15 months and sees me cycle through 15 countries, experiencing unique cultures and landscapes. My own personal goal is of course, A to B, but also to challenege my physical and mental capabilities. Hopefully, by the time I reach Tierra del Fuego I'll have found out a few new things about myself and the wonderful planet in which we inhabit.

I'm also doing this for charity and hope to raise €100,000 for The Carer's Association of Ireland, a charity very close to my heart as I was a carer along with my mother for my gran.
