It is our good fortune that Dagny has the perfect "eye" and emotional "feel" for the rare and wonderful environment in which she lives. As virtually all before me have said, she is a consummate photographer of the Alaskan wild. She is a master of what I call the “Triple C”–composition, color, and clarity. I particularly like her compositions of water and ice scenes. Her photostream is relatively small for the time she has been here, which tells me that she is interested in quality rather than quantity. She has certainly achieved that and blessed and inspired us all with her talent and the beauty of her work.

Every now and again, I spend some time with Wintercove's trove of photographs. She has such patience in capturing some of what she shows us, as well as a moving--as well as humorous--sensitivity to the wonder of natural life around her. Sometimes, as I look through her photographs, I am moved close to tears by the sheer beauty of creation, that she so ably frames for us. This is "reporting back' from the field, at its best! Our trip had become a rather distant memory until her photographs burst onto our screen, initially via radioparadise.com. Since then, week after week, her posts on flickr have brought the beauty of this incredible state back to life. It is true that the state provides a fabulous palette to work from.
