I have been taking pics for over 40 years and like to focus on colorful, scenic pictures and those relating to physics -- also enjoy family, grandchildren, traveling, hiking (Grand Canyon 3x, Half Dome, Angel's Landing in Zion, Yosemite Falls, Bryce, etc.) and barbershop singing. I've taught physics and astronomy for 38 years and am now retired.

Prior to 2004 I was using a Nikon F and later a Nikon N6006 for which I now scan either the slides or prints to get them digitized. In May 2004 I joined the digital era with a Canon Powershot A80 and I have been pleasantly surprised with the quality of pictures I am able to get while using a much more compact camera -- it is so nice to carry the camera around in my pocket (with a bit of a bulge). In May 2006 my son encouraged me to join flickr and I have been thoroughly enjoying having a new dimension added to my interest in photography.
