Rob Cuni is a professional commercial photographer with over ten years of experience in photojournalism; his services include all types of photography, products, real estate, restaurants and portraits. What started out as a possible lucrative business opportunity and a chance to help his sister, whom had just graduated from CW Post with a degree in photography, Cuni opened St. James One Hour Photo back in 1987 in his native Long Island. It is there that he began to fully explore the many avenues in the world of photography.
Coincidentally, during that time a good friend was also branching out into his area of expertise, professional baseball. Cuni began snapping pictures of the future Toronto Blue Jay and began covering baseball games among other sporting events for a local newspaper.
In 1997, Cuni sold his store to pursue his passion full time. His commercial endeavors include photography for Cablevision advertisements, brochures and websites for various hotels and real estate companies. In 2004, Cuni joined VR National, a Company located in Idaho that has been providing leading edge graphic technology with the highest quality virtual tours for more than 5 years. Since then he has worked extensively with VR National shooting hundreds of hotels, campgrounds and complexes, including over 300 Best Western hotels throughout the US and Canada. His pictures can be seen on their websites and in their brochures. In 2007 VR National contracted Cuni to be the New York photographer for Zagat.com, photographing many restaurants on Long Island and Manhattan.
Over the past several years he has photographed many Major League and Minor League baseball games all over the US. His photographs of Tim Wakefield and John Vanbiesbruck have graced the covers of popular sports magazines including New York Sport Scene and his works have been published in various publications including Baseball America, The Toronto Star, USA Today Sports Weekly and the Long Island Press among others.
His work is becoming in high demand as in 2004 he was selected to photograph Hideki Matsui for the Taylor Publishing's hardcover book, Godzilla Takes the Bronx. Recently Just Minors Inc. has chosen several of Cuni's photographs for baseball card production. Cuni has recently added Product Photography to his repertoire, photographing baseball equipment for The Old Hickory Bat Company and awards and gifts for Spire Awards as well as other products. In early 2008 he became the Restaurant review photographer for Long Island Pulse Magazine.
While his work leads him to travel often, Cuni still calls Long Island his home. He resides in Lake Ronkonkoma, New York where he has many ties to the community.
Cuni prefers to use Nikon cameras and lenses. He uses Apple computer products.
