my real name is chuck thompson

a word about myself:

~

i'm a life-long alaskan

educated & literate (I can spell and everything!)

commercial salmon fisherman

boomer-generation gwm

politically aware and quite liberal

live in very-remote sw alaska

. . . . . .

i love skiing,

wide-open spaces,

back country hikes,

long bicycle-touring trips,

even longer road trips,

gold rush history,

flyfishing,

wilderness,

forests,

mountains,

and the sea.

: :

virgo, if it matters

very much over 21 years old

i'm a 6 on the kinsey scale

i do not capitalize my name

a word about my favorites:

~

unlike some people who have multiple-thousands

of photos on their favorites list, i 'fave' relatively few,

so if i comment on a photo and describe how great

it is, don't worry that it doesn't make my list.

just as i rarely rate great movies with ten stars, those

pix that make it to my faves list aren't just really good,

they are -- in my estimation -- truly outstanding...

a genuine cut above even many terrific ones.

a word about my friends & family:

~

after a sudden rash of friend requests, i've reluctantly

decided to decline any new requests from flickrites with hundreds of friends or who

aren't really that active. it didn't take much reading between lines to discover

some were hoping to find selfie-nude shots, which i simply do not post.

if i add you as a friend, reciprocation would be nice but

obviously isn't necessary. i add friends as a way of keeping in

touch with talented people taking amazing photos.

: :

a word about my photos:

~

all the photographs I post are mine.

i don't post stuff gleaned online or taken from others.

my geotags indicate the location where the photo

was taken, not necessarily of the image you see.

that matters in cases where i make good use of

my telephoto lenses, of which i'm routinely guilty.

i also leave my photos as-is (no photoshop unless

as noted in the caption)

mostly, if edited, my photos are simply cropped or,

just as often, photo-stiched to create a panorama.

i've taken a rather casual approach towards my

creative commons license. please do not use for any

commercial, political, religious or other advocacy

application, but for personal use feel free to copy,

share, use as a desktop photo, whatever; just remember

to render attribution as befits the situation and please

don't hijack.

thanks.

Thierry F says:

Beautifull pictures of very special places, taken through passionate and attentive observer eyes. Hope meeting Chuck some days for some trips and hiking "into the wild".

A very cool guy with a great eye for detail and color. He makes you want to go explore the landscapes with him.

If you want to get a feel for the North, check out Chuck's photos— they're a fine snapshot of the land and everyday details of "the last best place."
