Some people don't do profiles. I don't like that, particularly. I think it defeats a big purpose of what Flickr could be. I understand hyper-privacy (I still can't bring myself to put my name on my photo stream, for instance) and haven't had much of an online profile for years -- but sometimes, people need to come from behind the fences.
I'm a un-showy journalist by profession, working most recently at the Tyler Morning Telegraph in Tyler, Texas, a daily, and a couple of weeklys, and also on a couple of on-line journals. But I'm not from Texas.
CAMERA/TECH STUFF: I've worked in broadcasting for years too.Had an Ikigami 730 A with the Sony BVU SP editing systems way back in the analog days, before going to Final Cut Pro digital. Last still camera was a Canon AE-1.
These days, I just use a Apple cell phone for the convenience. It does 85- 90 percent of what I want. I may get another camera for the remaining 15 percent, IDK.
LIFE STUFF: We be travelers in our family:
Born, 1952, Chicago. I'm not "old" or "used," just experienced.
Elementary school years, Manhattan, New York City. Junior High School in Los Angeles, Calif.
High School, and Community College years, Orange County, Calif. University years, Western Washington State. "Lute Alumni" refers to Pacific Lutheran University there. Majors, history and journalism.
Overseas years, Amsterdam, Holland. Work, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Texas. Travel years, 21 countries.
The vast East Texas countryside is the most remote place I've ever lived for an extended period, but I'm finding an interesting country culture here worth explaining to the world. I now live in Lindale, Pop. 6,500 ... quite a switch from Manhattan where the entire population of Canada lives in a 25-mile radius of Columbus Circle.
That's my primary interest in flickr, and why I look at other people's photo streams - their culture. I like details and post many, and ask others for lots of them.
Don't read it if you don't like it, but I'm posting for those people who are like me and want to exchange information, persepctive, and ideas.
That's what its all about
