In Sanskrit '"माया'" means "maya" which can be roughly translated as "not that".

Maya is a divine illusory potency that manifests and controls the phenomenal Universe.

Although Maya is often referred to as an "illusion", this definition is not entirely correct. The material world created by Maya does exist, but it is illusive compared to the Absolute Truth.

Maya simply veils the Absolute Truth and God. This veil can be destroyed, however, when the Soul realizes its true nature and eternal relationship with God.

Although it binds us in this material world, I cannot but admit that Maya is the greatest artist! All the things which excite, agitate, bewilder and delight us are manifested by Maya!

I am therefore simply observing the world, marvelling at Maya's creations and the way this amazing illusory potency works...
