ISTANBUL PHOTO CONTEST

Welcome to the web page of Istanbul Photo Contest . “LES ARTS TURCS” marks its 15 years of cultural mission and for this reason we would like to celebrate by giving foreign photographers the opportunity to capture the importance of the historical peninsula & modern Istanbul. The photo competition is designed to encourage foreign photographers of all skill levels to submit photos that visually express how the whole city has undertaken the mission of all activities during the candidacy of Istanbul: 2010 European Capital of Culture.

The first draft and theme ideas of the contest have already been shared with our friends living abroad through e-mails and online announcements. In our first contest on 2008 ;finished with 950 photos from 37 countries with 195 photographer.

The main target of this contest is; living Istanbul with its historical and touristical locations by focusing on the historical city walls including mosques, museums, bridges, towers, churches, synagogues, sufi lodge, cisterns, palaces, people, cats, parks, fountains, baths, grand bazaar, spice market, shopping centers, authentic Turkish cuisine, boutique hotels, handcrafts and shops, artists, carpet sellers , 24 hours living streets etc.

In “LES ARTS TURCS”, we desire to see our country’s excellences through the eyes of foreigners by adding the historical peninsula to the Istanbul Photograph Collection. We invite all foreign friends to enter this contest. We believe that photography is a universal concept and a photo is "Worth a Thousand Words" and aim to prove that you will represent your feelings not by hundreds of word but in a single shot. Les Arts Turcs

(1997) Les Arts Turcs was founded by a collection of painters, photographers, artists, singers, journalists, professional guides and entrepreneurs. The aim of Les Arts Turcs is to meet people here internationally and explore little traveled routes of communication between cultures that rarely and often communicate, to bridge artistic and cultural gaps that have formed over centuries in an attempt to take responsibilty for international humanistic heritage.
