As a native New Englander, I have been enthralled by the beautiful and varied landscape of the region since I was a child. Some of my earliest memories are of exploring tidal pools on the New Hampshire coast, searching for "pirate treasure" along Boston's South Shore, and hiking the rugged peaks of New Hampshire.
I caught the shutterbug at an early age, learning about f-stops, shutter speeds, and depth of field from my father. In high school, I was fortunate enough to have a wonderful photography teacher who taught me the technical details of B&W darkroom printing, but more importantly, helped me think about the camera as an artistic tool, much like a brush, paint, and canvas. Those high school classes gave me the foundational skills to be able to use the camera to create an image that evoked a particular emotion or told a unique story. Oh, and this was my local public school... support your public schools!
