Longtime photographer (set up first darkroom at age 15). Have been a reporter (often with camera); and more recently an editor. Shifted to digital in 2005.
I appreciate good titles when I see them on other photographers' shots (I've written an estimated 100,000 newspaper headlines, and the creative process has similarities). Sometimes the best title is clever. But often it's instead poignant or succinct. Sometimes an outstanding title pops into the head immediately; sometimes it takes minutes or months.
Composition, tightness, and sharpness are other attributes I especially admire when I see them in a photo. I get a vicarious thrill out of seeing fine work by other photographers, whether or not it's the kind of subject I shoot. We're all learning from one another.
I plan to gradually scan and post years of negative and slide film images, plus some my father shot. He made good use of his Argus C3 before handing it over to me.
