I miss having a darkroom. I studied photography at the Institute of Design, Chicago, in the late 70's for a few years. I met many truly talented photographers there and became close friends with many of them. I abandoned most of my cameras in favor of my Diana camera and used that almost exclusively for years. I exhibited my work at a few galleries in Chicago, was included in group shows at a few museums and then moved to NYC, didn't set up a new darkroom, and taught myself to carve and paint which lead to a completely different art guided life.
I've gone thru many changes over the years, but my soul remains rooted in photography. I've started working on a new group of Diana work, I have no expectations other than having fun with it. Perhaps even setting up a darkroom again, and making some more cameraless work like the pieces I made for about a year ten years ago in a flurry of unease in my life, escaping from reality for countless hours at a time. The next foray into the darkroom will be with a radically altered inspiration.
So for now I'm simply posting, mostly, camera work from years ago, primarily for my own benefit to keep me moving toward a goal to get back into that magic place with the smell of fix burning my nostrils.
Also: I have an occasionally updated blog, ifonlyihadittodooveragain.blogspot.com, I don't know why I have it, well I do know why. I proposed a project to kickstarter and I wanted the blog to be a means of updating my progress. Now that I have had my proposal accepted I'm rethinking my project, possibly doing it in three stages. Take a look, give me some input. Thanks jh
