My interests in photography include landscapes, seascapes, townscapes, people (though my family shots are not posted to Flickr) animals, birds, nature and sports activities particularly cycling.
I do not usually like HDR photos very much but there are always exceptions!
My photography started a long time ago with an Ensign camera that took 120 roll film and grew when I bought a Russian Zenit SLR in the 1970s, moving on through Olympus SLRs and several twin lens reflex cameras. I used to do my own B&W processing and also took slides and the ubiquitous colour print film.
My digital photography is done on a shoestring, relatively speaking, because of innate meanness perhaps. I love my second-hand eBay purchases and run Nikon DSLRs - nothing fancy, just a D70 and more recently a D50, D90 and D7000. My most recent go-everywhere lens is the Nikon 18-200mm VR II that was highly recommended by Ken Rockwell on the web.
I use compact cameras for cycling photos and other occasions when I don't have a bigger camera with me. In principle I don't buy new ones; only secondhand. Often they are a bit old and often from the Panasonic Lumix series, as the Leica lenses are great until the humidity or bad treatment in cycling kit pockets spoils them - and then it's time for another one!
