Rocker, writer, TV watcher, game maker, east side residing, Chrissy lover, news reader, opinion spouting, game playing, minion of Rock and roll and other indulgences!
1. I am hands down, the most blessed individual I have ever encountered:
From chance encounters that turned into lifelong friends to off the cuff remarks that have turned into a career, every step I have ever taken has always made me feel as if I was being watched over.
2. I deeply admire my boss:
"The Man" as I like to call him is indeed wacky and make no mistake, he drives me up the wall on a good day! But take it from me, an individual that suffers from an acute superiority complex and authority issues, I have never met anyone who works harder. NEVER! Including me.
3. I suck at videogames:
This is very true...despite it having been my profession for many years, I am a below avg. videogamer. In fact its rare that I finish titles. The one's I do finish I love. (Yay C.O.D. series).
4. I used to extort money from my baby sisters:
We lived next door to a mentally challenged young man named Gary who we could see clearly from our back porch often dancing in his backyard. It was an odd kind of rocking/jumping dance that often went on for hours at a stretch. My sisters (who are 6, 8 and 13 year younger than I!) would laugh at him, because in point of fact...it was funny. I saw that as an opportunity to threaten them for whatever pittance they had so I could go to the movies or I would ..."Tell Mom" ...eeeewwwww!!!!
5. I am 40+ years old and have been licensed to drive for than 2+ years:
That being said, I am now an excellent driver! Forget what my wife says!
6. Before I met Chrissy I was convinced I'd never be married:
I had truly resigned myself to an existence of beer, work and rock and roll until she came into my life. And in many ways she has saved my humanity. True funny story, we were playing Rock Band 1 and she was singing but didn't know the melody to a Ramones song! I said "Babe, if someone had told me I'd be marrying someone who didn't know "Blitzkrieg Bop" I would never have believed them." She replied "Honey, if someone had told me I'd marry someone who KNEW a Ramones song I wouldn't have believed them either!" And a great romance was born!
7. I look more like my stepfather than my biological father:
And I think more like him too! I am a better man for it. He took me in at 3 and accepted me as his own and nothing less. I have never had a question of who I am, thanks to Douglas W. Patterson.
8. I only like going to the movies in the daytime:
Just feels as if you've blown the whole evening if you go at night.
9. I cannot swim:
Despite having had a pool in my backyard as a youth, and my mom dragging us to Rockaway Beach almost everyday during the summers of my boyhood, I still can't.
10. My earliest memory...
is of Roger Grimsby and Bill Beutel on channel 7's Eyewitness News on the floor in our upstairs apartment in Bayside.
11. I have a massive oral fixation:
From childhood (chewed bedsheets, shirt collars and pencils) to today (bic lighters, pens, straws) I cannot stop chewing. The funny thing is I HATE gum! No use for it whatsoever.
12. My obsession with Rock and Roll...
began with the Beatles tune "Maxwell's Silver Hammer".My neighbor Bruce played it for me on his brother's stereo. It was the first time I realized songs were telling stories. I was 7 or 8. I realized my parents had Abbey Road up in the apartment. I listened to it over and over again and my illness was set!
13. The best rock show I have ever seen:
Blur @ The Reading Festival in 1993 supporting "Modern Life is Rubbish". Absolute pandemonium. I will never forget it as long as I live.
14. I was born in Plattsburgh, NY!:
If I have ever told you anything different, I was lying!
15. I wish my family lived closer to me:
I miss them.
16. I still get excited referring to Chrissy as "my wife":
I know we're still technically newlyweds, but I truly love it!
17. I learned more about the human race from 7B...
than any other source material.
18. My life's nadir...
was the summer of 1995. I remind myself of that time in order to keep my feet on the ground.
19. I'd like to have been...
a filmmaker. I suppose that is still within reach, but I would like to have been one for several years already!
20. The acid I did in the 90s...
actually cleared things up for me. I don't suggest this is good for everyone, but I came away from those experiences with knowledge that I subsequently used to right the ship. Of course my friends were instrumental in that endeavor as well.
21. I was a straight edge in the 80's:
I had a beer at the Sing party in '85 and I got drunk for the first time at CMU in Pittsburgh 1986, but that was it until 1991 when I fell in love with a bar!
22. I predicted the current financial crisis:
I did!
