July is a kind of an anniversary for me -- though september 14, 2010 is the date when the termination of a 30 year partnership was official -- July was when it was decided to end. Not completely my choice but the disintegration of the relationship had been in process for many years. It was thought that the California venture would help and for a while it did. Somehow last year it fell completely and irretrievably apart.

I am finding this a good venue to explore the question of whether or not 5 years of effort to develop a business that was within months of launch is simply gone with a major life change.

It is part of my sorting out my revised future. What work is behind the effort? Is any of it salvageable? More about this is in my seeking bottled poetry set.

I love the research - filling up notebooks with information. I love taking facts and ideas and turning them into words. I like the challenge of taking concepts and trying to portray them through photography. In terms of the wine - I am not really much of a drinker and I like to say that wine should be an experience and not a beverage. The experience is the beauty and depth of aromas and flavors that are found in well crafted wines. They are like a revelation and should be savored.

I have been back in California after a pleasant stint in Bozeman Montana. My son and daughter-in-law said - come back and see what you can do. We wil see how it goes. I will be here for another month and then I will have to head to the other coast where family is that I haven't seen in a long time. It is my fervent goal to be back in California next spring. Lots to do before then.

Pros and cons. I started this new flickr photostream to explore these thoughts, feelings and various images in a more anonymous manner.
