The Nebraska State Fair is an annual event that is held at the end of August through early September, ending on Labor Day. The fair is hosted in Grand Island at Fonner Park, which is now home to one of five climate-controlled livestock facilities in the U.S. Construction for the new fair grounds has been progressing steadily for over a year. The State Fair is excited to announce the debut of seven new buildings at Fonner Park for the 2010 Fair year.

 

In preparation for the fair, staff moves onto Fonner Park fair grounds 30 days before the event and transforms the area into a venue unlike any other in the state. The Nebraska State Fair staff books events year round and helps maintain the buildings at Fonner Park for the two months leading up to the Fair. A State Fair Administration building is currently under construction and is expected to be completed for the 2011 State Fair year. This will allow the State Fair staff to be on the grounds year round, maximizing the State Fair staff’s capacity for the best State Fair experience.

 

The Nebraska State Fair offers insights into the unique culture of Nebraska. It is built on 142 years of tradition and showcases the talent, products and people of Nebraska. Nebraskans can come together to experience the latest technological advancements in agriculture, first-class entertainment and the most delectable and extraordinary food the state has to offer. Like all state fairs, Nebraska’s includes a competitive livestock exhibition, farming equipment trade show, and competitions in other fields, such as handmade crafts and baked goods.

 

During the 11-day event, one theme remains constant; The Nebraska State Fair a celebration showcasing Nebraska’s excellence in agriculture, industry, commerce, education, arts, sciences, technology; and reinforces a sense of community and shared culture for the citizens of Nebraska.
