Gary McLeod (b. 1979, Portsmouth, UK) is a visual artist exploring photography as a way of visually engaging with unfamiliar environments.

He holds Bachelors and Masters degrees from the University of the Arts London, and is near completion of his PhD in History, Theory and Cultural Studies at the same institution. As a practice-led researcher, his interests lay in ‘rephotography’, ‘post-photography’, participatory visual methodologies, and a relationship between foreignness and creativity.

He has exhibited his photographs and research at various institutions around the world, and has work held in the collection of the Natural History Museum in London. Currently he teaches photography and visual communications at Izmir University of Economics in Turkey, but will return to Tokyo in 2015 to undertake a collaborative

rephotography project.
