ABOUT ERICH GONZALES:

Erika Chryselle Gonzales Gancayco (born September 20, 1990), more commonly known as Erich Gonzales, is a Filipina actress and one of ABS-CBN's Star Magic artists. Her career began when she won as Grand Questor in the reality talent search Star Circle National Teen Quest in 2005. She is best known for playing the roles of Waling-Waling in the teen-oriented show Abt Ur Luv and as Ella in Pieta. She has been cast in the upcoming show, Agimat: Ang Mga Alamat ni Ramon Revilla presents Tiagong Akyat. Her first lead role was as a teenage mother in the TV adaptation of the film Katorse. Erich Gonzales is a host and performer as a part of ASAP 2010.

The youngest of three siblings, she was born in Cebu City and raised in Davao City. After winning Star Circle Quest, she changed her last name from Gancayco to Gonzales which is her mother's maiden last name.

Erich Gonzales decides to stop looking for deserter dad

Eighteen years old na pala ang Star Circle Quest Season 2 winner na si Erich Gonzales. Wala raw naging malaking celebration si Erich last year (September 20, 2008) dahil mas pinili na lang daw niyang mag-trip sa Hong Kong kasama ang kanyang ina.

Hindi naman daw kasi mahilig sa malalaking parties si Erich at mas naging praktikal lang daw siya. Kesa naman daw sa isang malaking party, ginastos na lang daw niya ang mga pinagpaguran niyang pera sa pamamasyal.

"Mas enjoy, kasi nakapag-bonding pa ulit kami ng mommy ko," nakangiting pahayag ni Erich sa PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal).

"Naka-base kasi si Mommy sa Davao and she comes to visit me paminsan-minsan lang. Siya kasi at ang isang kapatid ko ang nag-aasikaso ng bahay namin sa Davao. Kaya kapag dumarating siya sa Manila to visit me, I make sure na we spend lots of time together kasi alam ko na she will fly back to Davao soon.

"Kaya noong nag-debut ako last year, sabi ko na ayoko ng malaking party kasi I want to spend lots of time with my mom in another place. I don't mind gumastos as long as happy ang mommy ko."

ERICH'S DAD. Tinanong nga ng PEP si Erich kung muli bang nagpakita sa kanya ang kanyang ama noong birthday niya. Wala na raw siyang nabalitaan pa tungkol sa kanyang ama.

"The last time I saw him was three years ago pa. That was the time na nagkita kami for the first time sa isang TV show. Alam naman ng lahat that my dad left us when I was just two years old. Wala na kaming nabalitaan sa kanya since then.

"Noong napasali ako sa SCQ [Star Circle Quest], doon lang naungkat about my dad. Wala naman akong maikuwento because hindi ko siya nakilala. Ang mommy ko, wala naman siyang kinukuwento sa amin about him."

Noong dumating nga ang pagkakataon na makita at mayakap niya ulit ang kanyang ama, inakala ni Erich ay simula na iyon ng magandang pagkakakilala niya rito. Pero hindi raw nangyari iyon.

"I thought kasi na after kami mag-meet after so many years, magkakaroon kami ng bonding. Kasi nga I wanted to know him as my dad. Pero after the show, he never communicated with us. As in wala talaga.

"Hindi na rin ako nag-effort na hanapin siya ulit because baka yun ang gusto niya. I don't know if he has his own family na, or kung may mga kapatid ba ako with him.

"Ako naman, given the chance gusto ko siyang makilala, kasi siya ang biological father ko. Pero kung ito naman ang gusto niya, I will respect that. May nagsabi nga sa akin na paano mo makikita ang taong ayaw namang magpakita talaga. So gano'n na lang siguro."

Hindi na nga raw naghanap ng magiging stepfather nina Erich ang kanyang ina. Nag-commit na lang daw ito sa pag-aalaga kay Erich at sa mga kapatid nito.

"Kami na nga ang nagsasabi kay Mommy na makipag-date naman siya. Kasi minsan nasa bahay lang siya. We want her to have fun naman. Pero galing na rin kay Mommy na ayaw na niya. Tama na raw na inaalagaan niya kami.

"Kaya nga ako, lahat ng gusto ni Mommy ay binibigay ko. Hindi naman mapaghingi si Mommy, pero I want to spoil her as much as I can kasi alam ko ang naging hirap niya para sa aming magkakapatid.

"Kaya kahit ayaw niya, binibigay ko sa kanya because she deserves it for being the best mom in the world para aming magkakapatid."

DOING MIDNIGHT DJ. Hindi nga naman nawawalan ng trabaho si Erich kaya can afford ito na ibili ang kanyang ina ng kung anu-ano. Bukod nga sa regular show niya sa ABS-CBN 2 na Pieta, kasama rin siya sa cast ng season 3 ng Midnight DJ sa TV5. Natutuwa si Erich dahil noong una ay guest lang siya pero dahil sa nagustuhan ang performance niya kaya siya kinuha na maging regular cast member.

"Nakaka-enjoy naman kasi mag-taping for Midnight DJ. Kasundo ko ang cast like sina Kuya Oyo [Sotto], Ate Desiree [del Valle] at Ate Jenny [Miller]. Ang pinakanakakatawa ay si Kuya Joaqui [Tupas] kaya walang dull moment sa set.

"Tsaka iba ito sa mga nagawa ko nang mga series. I get to be funny and serious at the same time. Plus may mga nalalaman pa kaming kakaiba sa mga stories namin every week."

WORKING STUDENT. Sabay nga nito ay nag-aaral pa rin si Erich. She's taking up Mass Communications sa Trinity University.

"Nasa first year pa lang po ako at hindi ako makapag-full load because of my work schedule.

"Very considerate naman ang school kasi alam nilang working student ako. Kahit na puyat ako sa taping or shooting, pumapasok pa rin ako para ma-catch up ko ang mga lessons. So far, okey naman po ang mga grades ko."

Kaya at 18 ay wala pang balak na mag-boyfriend si Erich kahit na marami ang nanliligaw sa kanya ngayon.

"Naku huwag muna at hindi pa puwede. Wala naman pong nagpipigil sa akin pero desisyon ko na rin 'yon.

"Mas importante ang career at school. Wala naman akong binibigyan ng pag-asa, e. Sinasabi ko lang sa kanila na hindi ko priority ang magka-boyfriend ngayon.

"I would rather go out with my girlfriends or with my family to have fun kesa sa makipag-date ako with a guy at matsitsismis pa ako. Kaya it's better to be safe than sorry, di ba?" pagtatapos pa ni Erich Gonzales.
