I have been playing with photography since a long time and, though I never became an expert, I am narcissistic enough to be satisfied with some of my photos … Thus, even if I am aware of my several poor results, I don’t refrain from submitting them to people …

My first camera was an “Eura-Ferrania” … almost a toy … I got it as a Christmas gift in 1960, when I was fourteen years old … I guess I still have my first set of photos hidden somewhere … Instead, I never saw my first shots taken at the age of eleven, during a travel, because my father camera, with which I had taken them, was stolen on the way … with the film in it …

When my father bought a movie-camera (an Eumig 8mm) I sized it and forgot my Eura-Ferrania. Actually my father was not so fond of pictures and I became the official reporter of the family .

This movie-camera followed me for a long time until I got a MINOLTA and started a long sequence of shots … some were rather good … I am now scanning my favourite ones to add to my photo-stream ….

I reluctantly switched to digital about one year ago … however, since I was so depending on photo-services to print my pictures and never happy with the result … switching was a true relief …

I started again in digital and … again … though I shall never became an expert, I am narcissistic enough to be satisfied with some of my photos … and to try to learn more, just as fourty-five years ago, with my beloved Eura-Ferrania …

What about my photography? I do not think I have a well defined “style” … I guess I am rather eclectic and I resort to my instinct and taste. If there is any principle I follow in taking a picture, it is the research of some small detail that breaks the surface and tells one more little unexpected thing … but I guess that this is a very common principle among photographers.

Finally … I have a special affection towards Black and White … it is not only because I made my first steps when colours were not available … the reason why is that being tied to a scale of grey is like being tied to metric … poetry in fact …
