Solinar by Agfa - This Group is limited to those shooting with an Agfa camera fitted with a Solinar lens. All Solinars as far as I know are set in a Compur or Synchro-Compur shutter. Here is a link to my Agfa Kids:

"Don't let school get in the way with your education." "Don't get in a battle of words with a man who buys his ink by the barrel." - Mark Twain

I have come to think Twain was referring to the same entity. He who controls the press (Twain's reference to a news paper pressman's ink) and media in general are those who control which books are used in schools both public and private.

Retired Ex-Patriot - Lengthy stays in the Middle-East and Latin America. Presently residing in San Antonio just north of the Rio Grande. This past June despite the talk of trouble south of the border I headed for a place my parents had lived at for 20 years (Mom) and 29 (Dad). I, my wife (a Mexican national) and two children had also lived there for 12 years. I returned to a place I had grown to love and was shocked to say the very least. "Out of Control" would sum it up properly. And as with our CIA training the Mujahideen and Bin Laden the US trained the Mexican GAFE (Grupo Aeromovil de Fuerzos Especials) at the School of the Americas located at Fort Bragg, NC. In the late 1990s the Gulf Cartel wanted to eliminate rival cartel members so they waved $$$ in the face of GAFE members present and former. The Mexicans have an expression that fits the situation like a glove: "With money the dog or the monkey will dance." The Gulf Cartel waved more money in the faces than the Mexican Government ever could. Now this elite group switched sides and has since gone independent. Los Zetas as they are known now do as they please and no one but no one can stop them. For me not being able to retire in Mexico is a personal disappointment but for Mexico it is a National tragedy. Should the USA fail to intervene the tragedy will also become ours . . . that of the USA. There is no way that the Mexican Government can stop them . . . graft, corruption, and abject fear guarantees the success of Los Zetas!

Tom O'Brien is a master of the lost art known as full-on gotta know it in your head, manual photography. His camera of choice is a legend in its own time, the Agfa Billy. Highly coveted today by those who know of it, however very few have the knowledge to get the most from a camera that's 71 (THAT'S RIGHT: SEVENTY-ONE YEARS OLD)! While some might use it merely as decoration, Tom proves time & again that with the right man behind the shutter, it can outperform the latest most expensive equipment available. With images TACK-SHARP! Cheers to you, my friend. A man who can truly be called: Photographer. Rolleijoe
