I met Andrew at work in the last days of the 1990s, when he was an expat in Canada. One of our co-workers revealed he liked Britney Spears, so when her second album came out I asked if he'd picked it up. He replied, "I've gone off her somewhat -- she's getting a bit too popular." You could argue he was just being typically British in that qualifiedly sarcastic way, but it still makes me laugh. When I was an expat in England several years later, he very generously shared his fine group of Bristolian friends with me, making my time there a zillion trillion times more delightful than it otherwise would have been. He also was very patient when we spent a weekend in Prague and I kept whipping out my camera, so I highly recommend him as a travelling/drinking companion and photographer's assistant.
