Giant Star Records provides an outlet for ambitious Calgary recording artists to deliver the best product they can, in a timely, professional and personal manner. Located on the border of Calgary and DeWinton our facility is tucked away in a quiet community where recording artists are able to freely create the Hip Hop music that they love, at their own pace.

Giant Star Records recording studio is owned and operated by Jay Jay Abels, a graduate from APRA, who works with and pushes the recording artist just enough to help bring out the best in themselves. He is currently enrolled in Berklee's Online Music program expecting a "Masters Certificate in Music Production with Pro Tools". Having already earned 2 previous Pro Tools Certificates from Berklee he is eager to finish his schooling and apply the knowledge he's gained to each and every new recording project.

Jay Jay grew up in Neptune, New Jersey during the "golden era" of Hip Hop and has been involved in the music industry for over 10 years now. His musical influences are mainly 90's era Hip Hop artistsas well as newer, more current mainstream and independent acts. He has resided in Calgary, Canada for the past 5 years, working with many of the local talents who have sought his experience, knowledge and equipment in order to gain their own edge in this very competitive and always evolving music industry.

Jay Jay is meticulous and absolutely professional. He is ready, willing and determined to help any serious recording artist become the super star that they know they can be.
