It would be falsehood for me to represent my images of Planned Parenthood events as unbiased documentary. Nor could anyone be reasonably expected to believe any claim I might make of objectivity, given my involvement with Planned Parenthood Votes! Washington. Indeed, the reason these images are created is to promote the purposes of my employer, as I perceive them. In this case, that means promoting the image and effectiveness of Planned Parenthood Votes! Northwest.

My artistic process intrudes everywhere in these images and that is how I intend it to be. I take artistic license to alter as it serves my vision and artistic desire. I am practicing my art in these images.

Nonetheless, these images serve both documentary and artistic ends. In the process of their creation they are first subject to my aesthetic as a recorder of events and secondarily filtered through my aesthetic as a visual artist. There is a record here. The people in these images are not paid or given direction by me or anybody else. They are there, doing what they are doing when I am there with my camera.
