The General Directorate of Foreign Trade, under the Ministry of Economic Development of the City of Buenos Aires, is a body whose aim is to promote the internationalization of companies from Buenos Aires, assisting them through the strategic planning of activities with the objective of fostering the sustainable development of the City and consolidating its exporting potential since the early stages.

Through this end, and with the purpose of acceding to, expanding and diversifying the markets, the following activities are coordinated:

-International fairs

-Commercial missions

-Inverse missions

-Exploratory missions to new markets

-Business rounds

-Training cycles

-Work in collaboration with middle bodies

-Sectorial diagnoses

-City catalog of exportable offer

-Institutional support to different events of interest

-Monthly linking breakfasts with different actors in the export process

-Sectorial reports

In 2011 the aim was to deepen the impact of the Directorate, due to this, the area of Management and Follow-up was created. Its objective is to watch day by day the evolution of the participating companies in the activities suggested by the Directorate, while providing the tools and know-how required by the business community. Its objectives are:

-To examine the results of the international actions in order to generate tools and value added to each activity.

-To analyze the evolution of each company related to internationalization activities, in order to accompany them in their continuous improvement and in the projection of their international business.

Moreover, it was developed and incorporated a company assistance program called “Medical History” whose purpose is to do a follow-up of each company of Buenos Aires that participates in the international activities of the General Directorate of Foreign Trade, providing different tools for business development
