UK based and with science/microscopy as my 'day job', I bought a 35mm SLR (Nikon F301) with my first salary payment and have been hooked ever since. Photography became a serious hobby, with some published work via direct requests and/or image library licensing. I used to develop and print my own films onto b/w and colour positive (from trannies onto Cibachrome) and recently resurrected some of my old film cameras, developing the film at home and then scanning to digital files.

Took me a while to go digital and I used a bridge camera for about 6 years before taking the plunge and buying a full frame DSLR back in 2012. What I enjoyed previously on the dev and print side is every bit as rewarding using the 'digital darkroom'.

I tend to avoid cropping in by much and upload at hefty resolutions, so its worth using the magnify function in Flickr to see more detail. I love using Flickr and viewing so many fabulous photographs from all over the planet, great inspiration and a great resource to try and learn new photographic skills.

All my images are copyrighted, so please do get in touch first via Flickr mail if you wish to use any; I tend to waive any licensing fees for use by charities/voluntary organisations, but will usually request a licensing fee for commercial uses.

Thank you very much for stopping by!
