"m20wc51" is one of the "Good Guys" of the internet. He acquires and collects old Kodachrome and other color photo (and some plain B&W) slides from multiple sources, carefully scans them, and presents them here on Flickr (which has to also be thanked for doing all this). However, it's not "just old slides" but slides often from East Asia - Korea, Hong Kong, Japan and Vietnam - from key time periods, the Korean War (1950-53), the post-war period, the Vietnam War (1955-75) and other times. Many of the slides he posts show American, and host country, military personnel doing their day-to-day jobs, relaxing, taking in the sights, and sometimes in combat situations. And, amazingly, most of these slides are in glorious Kodachrome color, many of them looking like they could have been taken "yesterday," not 1952. Although most slides are "everyday" slides of "everyday" people and soldiers, there are quite a few that document key historical events or situations. Seeing these in color is often a revelation. Occasionally, he has the help of Flickr user "Duffy's Tavern" who is a whiz at restoring and cleaning up dirty or off-color slides. DT unleashes the potential of m20wc51's slides that he works on - they are a great team. Of all the Flickr people that I follow, or come across, "m20wc51", by far, is, I think, a star of this website. What he is doing here - documenting things that could have been irretrievably lost - is a precious and valuable, and honorable thing to do. Thank you.
