What's the deal?

I'm a photographer at heart. I studied commercial photography, but the commercial part and being in a dark studio all day scared me off into a world of sitting all day under florescent lighting in front of a computer screen as a graphic designer. I balance my time spent in front of the computer by continuing to photograph, documenting my life and travels. I capture things as is without manipulation and with natural light and I'm pretty anal about keeping the image full frame. Go ahead, call me a photo purist.

What's the icon all about?

When I was eleven year old I was given a Kodak Disc camera. Remember those? The film came in a disc shape, and each negative frame was smaller than 110. Ever since I got it, I took photos. The icon is a scan of the disc of negatives from the first photos I ever took. There you have it.

What camera are you using?

I still love film. There's something special about not having the immediate response of seeing the image seconds after it is taken. I use a Canon A-1.

That being said, I also value the immediacy of digital photography and the fact that it doesn't require the chemicals involved with processing film and paper (although I'm sure the making of electronics has a severe impact on the environment, so really I'm not sure if it's any better). The majority of my photos on flickr are shot with a Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX1.
