My goal for displaying the images shown on this website is simply to provide an accurate representation of what would be observed by anyone who happened to "be there" at the moment when these images were taken. I would like my post-film photographs (taken with Nikon DSLR) to resemble a Kodachrome exposure. Entries are often random (subject, location, time) based on when I find and scan long lost pictures. If needed, I use Photo-shop to clean up dust, scratches, color fading and edit out annoying young relatives that apparently got-off "photo bombing" an otherwise good image.

Some photographs displayed on this site were taken by others, but I took the vast majority. I will post photos taken by others that provide a historic perspective, such as my Mom's Kodachrome frames that date back to 1947, or images by others, when I was present. I acquired some original historic photographs shown here, that were taken by persons unknown - this is indicated in the photo description. Most common contributors are: DBD = Dorothy Donaldson, BJD = Bryan Donaldson, LJT = Loretta, RLD = Richard Donaldson, Sr, HBB= Harold B Barber. I always note (by initials) the photographer when known.

I used a Kodak Instamatic 104 camera from fall 1965 until December 1970 - numerous images taken with that camera appear on this site. From December 1970 until spring 1983, I took photographs using a 35mm Mamiya-Sekor 500DTL SLR camera using a 28mm and 50mm lens (camera was broken and non-functional from September 1972 until March 1973). Kodachrome was my favorite film during this era, but I also used Ektachrome, and then Kodacolor briefly in the early 1980's. When the 500DTL broke down in 1983, I switched to full time video for the next 6 years (except when I borrowed a camera from someone else). I now regret wasting the time and money shooting video, mainly because of all the still images I missed out on. Anyway, I used a Nikon FM 2 from fall 1989 until 2008, mostly using Kodacolor, and then gradually switched entirely to digital - this is also about when Kodak quit making and processing Kodachrome. December 2003 + = Canon sure shot digital. Spring 2008 to December 2015 = Nikon D-80. December 2015 to present = Nikon D-700 and iPhone 5 or 7 where indicated).
