I was The New England Record holder for the 100 yard freestyle. As a high school junior I swam is the 1977 US OPEN in which Mark Spitz's last world record was broken. I turned down an offer to attend and swim for Brown University despite a personal letter from then Rhode Island Governor J. Joseph Garrahy. Instead I attended Indiana University and swam for Spitz's and my Coach, Doc Counsilman. I still stay in touch with that program. I moved to Los Angeles in November 1986 to become an artist.
