MY LIFE

I am passionate about transport, my dear mum used to take me on Crewe station and on my own I would walk to the nearest railway line which was near the Mornflakes Oats factory next to a small GWR shed in Crewe, the first loco I can remember seeing was 6803 Bucklebury Grange. Also at Crewe I can recall Bristol K's working for Crosville.

When I moved to Stockton-on-Tees I became interested in United Automobolies their buses were the same as Crosville but red! then one day I saw a green Bristol bus just like Crosville, Durham and District.

In 1963 we moved Sandbach Cheshire where my father bought a greengrocery shop, after leaving school in 1969 I worked there until he sold the shop in 1973.

So it was back to Nottinghamshire I had many jobs including working for Sunblest as a bread van driver and Lewis W Evans as a long distance lorry driver (love to see any pics of that firm) I Married Anne in 1976 and bought a general grocery shop in Kirkby-in-Ashfield the marriage didn't work out so we called it a day in 1979, however we are now the best of friends.

In 1978 I bought my first SLR camera, my biggest regret is I wished I had bought one years earlier. In 1982 I started going out with Violet, married in 1988 the year I started at Trent Buses, we have two boys who hate buses and trains, I sold the shop in 1990.

I worked for Trent Buses for 22 years working my way up from driver to brand manager for rainbow 3, in 2007 I worked in the office where my title was senior lead driver but basiclly second in command.

In 2009 there was a lot of pressure, so I decided it was time to go. My time is now spent doing exactly what I want, looking after Violet and my Yorkshire Terror Frankie, caring for my mum, cooking, cleaning and photographing.

What a life!!!
