I'm interested in producing what could be called 'art' via a camera.

My primary creative interest is visual art and photography for me is one way of expressing how I see the world around me and the world going on in my head.

It's important to understand the technical side of things and yes, gear is important (to a point) but pixel peeping, tech talk and obsessing over the latest model is non-essential to me.

That said, I have collected a few too many attractive lenses and I quite like my cameras - so I'm not immune to the charms of collector's obsession.

I shoot the vast majority of my work with a Canon 5DMKIII and use a 24-70 2.8L II lens for many of my images.

By necessity or inclination, most of my work is processed in some way - I don't do HDR mostly because I don't know enough about it and in many ways would prefer not to know about it. All of my processing is home made - no presets - all my own sauces and recipes and unique to each and every image. Processing consists only of colour, contrast and other aesthetic adjustments.

With very occasional exceptions, I don't photoshop ie. I don't composite, duplicate or do extraordinary things to my images to make them uniquely something else. The most I will ever do is a bit of simple cloning or smudging to remove errant lens flare or other visual junk and even then, I am bad at it. Most of the time I prefer to leave the junk in.

Most of my work these days is night-based but increasingly more day work is creeping in to the mix. If 'm successful, the distinction between the night and day work is sometimes blurred.

Most work is available for purchase in limited editions. Visit my Facebook page for more details.

Testimonials

I have only recently discovered Wayne's work but am completely blown away by the beautiful surreal images he creates. Often based on urban scenes at night his technical prowess and compositional skill result in art that one wants to look at again and again.
