My interest in photography started as a young child when my parents bought me a Kodak Brownie 127. This took just 12 4x4 photos, but served me well for a few years. I soon progressed to 35mm though with a second-hand Halina before eventually entering the world of Pentax! My final film camera was a ME Super which I loved. This was the point at which I became much more serious about my hobby and I ended up with a fairly comprehensive set of lenses as well as an autowinder, tripod, extension tubes etc. All this was sold to make way for my first digital camera in 1999.

My first digital camera was a Fuji MX-1700 which cost almost £317 even though it was just 1.5 megapixel! An 8 megabyte (not gigabyte!!) card cost almost £16 extra. How times have changed!

I upgraded to a Panasonic DMC-FZ18 for most of my photography, but also used a Casio Exilim because of its small size. I then ventured into the world of the DSLR and bought a used Nikon D40 complete with the 18-55 kit lens and the Nikon 55-200. I then moved onto the Nikon D7000 and acquired several suitable lenses including a Sigma 10-20mm, a Nikon 18-70mm, a Sigma 105mm macro and a Tamron 75-300mm.

Eventually, mirrorless seemed to be the way forward so I started with a Sony A6000 with the kit lens. I bought several old school manual lenses with the adaptor for some fun, but also bought 19mm, 30mm and 60mm Sigma lenses and a Sony 55-210mm. I gradually sold all my Nikon equipment and then I bought a Sony A7 full frame mirrorless camera, for which I'm very gradually building up a collection of suitable lenses. I currently have the Sony 28-70mm kit lens and the Samyang 30mm and 19mm prime lenses.

I normally use Lightroom for my editing, along with Photoshop Elements when required. I also use Affinity which I suspect will gradually take over as Lightroom is now only available as subscription based software.
