Colin passed away on 11 April 2016 after a short but brutal battle with cancer.

He loved his photography & he loved commenting on other people's pictures on Flickr & reading the comments left for him.

I am devastated by his loss , but want to leave this account up as a tribute to my husband of 45 years and the love of my life.

Liz Gould

Very old , let's say older than 60 , but enthusiastic happy-snapper . I try to accompany any of the shots that I load onto Flickr with , if possible , detailed descriptions as there's nothing more annoying to me than a photo called IMG 437 .

I don't really like favouriting people's photos as it only means you've seen them and seems lazy to me . If a photograph is worth favouriting then surely it's worth commenting on as well .

Testimonials

Colin was a real Flickr friend. I suppose we all have a handful of "Followers" who can be relied on to comment regularly on our stuff. Colin was one of mine, and I like to think that I was one of his. R.I.P., Colin. You will be sorely missed. Love from Philip.

Colin was the best friend I had on Flickr. Although I never met him in person, I felt that he shared so much of himself with me and other Flickr members who were lucky enough to call him friend. He was honest in his comments on your work. His work was such a joy. Colin was a real people person and that comes through in all of his photos that he took of people. He once told me they always smiled for him cause he had a camera in hand. You can tell how they responded to him by looking at their smiles. Colin was also a Historian. Take a look at his collections, his photos of the area he lived in, his love of the Liverpool music scene, the great collection of his graveyard photos. I actually got to see the grave of Eleanor Rigby in his photos and remember thinking- Colin took this photo where one of the Beatles once stood and pondered that gravestone. His albums are incredible. His nature studies were second to none. He loved nature, especially birds and he captured a wide variety of great images of all kinds of birds in his area. They are best described as photos of passion for birds. Colin also was a great family man. He will be missed so much by them, and, for sure, by we who were lucky enough to know him and see his great body of work. I hope that if there is a place called Heaven, and St. Peter needs a professional photo taken, that he calls on the best one I knew. Colins' work was not done- no, it may be just beginning for him. I will miss him forever. His personality was huge. When he said something, he meant it. When he was your friend, it was for life. Go softly towards the light, my friend- This is just the beginning, not the end. There in the light, I hope you rest For on this earth, you gave your best. Sleep for awhile, rest for a space let the light show on your face- You gave it your all, your work here attests and you have earned your eternal rest. Go in peace , my great friend, take some more shots our Happy Snapper, Colin.
