Retired - love the outdoors. This webpage has travels in the Carolinas (few in GA, TN & VA), often with tent, bike and kayak on board. The Lowcountry, for me, is from Savannah, Georgia to Georgetown, South Carolina centered in Charleston, South Carolina. Lowcountry, as in near sea level, has tidal rivers where saltwater flows 20-30 miles inland - a land with abundant wildlife and much scenic beauty. Born and raised in the Highcountry (mountains of South Carolina, a little bit high), I now have a full appreciation of the "Mountains to the Sea". Most of my working life was spent in Fort Mill, South Carolina where we raised our 4 children - lived in the same house 40 years. We have lived in Summerville, SC since 2010. We do much like the early Charlestonians did - we spend a good bit of time in the mountains from late July till October.
