Firstly, thanks for taking the trouble to read this.
I have been interested in photography as long as I can remember. My early attempts at photography were limited to my parents’ pre-war Zeiss folding bellows camera.
As I got older, I would stop to lust after a Zenit 35mm SLR camera in a shop window. Even this ultracheap Russian brick of a camera held an allure that somehow only an SLR can, and it wasn't until quite a bit later in life that I had both the time and the money to invest in my own SLR camera. This was a Nikon F501. I loved this camera and stayed with it for quite a few years. Apart from autofocus, which was handy because my eyesight was never that good, there was little automation bar a built-in meter. I learned a great deal using this camera, never felt the need to upgrade, and were it not for the onset of digital I might well still be using it today.
Fortunately, as digital cameras started to improve, and the first DSLR's came on the market, I was in the happy position of being able to afford one and purchased a Nikon D100. Life would never be the same again. Other cameras have come and gone. I am still learning, but if photography was easy it would be boring.
