Hi, since you asked me to visit your gallery, I want to make some remarks on your photos. Your macros of insects are awesome, good job there! I do like most of your flower photos, but I wonder whetehr some of them might have profited from a slighly different angle, although most of them show all of their beautiful details in front view. Perhaps you'll give it a try. Your portraiture I like, although I am not too deeply involved in that field, but the impression I get from them is that you are doing a good job there too. So keep it up!

Since you solicited comments, here you go. I was quite taken with your macros; they are very fine. Your pictures of insects and flowers are quite the treat. But I was not as keen on your portraiture. You seem to be trying to capture something of the personality of your subjects and yet you present them on plain white or backgrounds which have no personality at all. For instance, why didn't you capture the man in the kippah clutching a Macbook (Portrait 0605) in his office? And in what context would the woman in the red pantsuit (Portrait 8319) be poised for a martial-arts kick? I could go on, but I think you take my meaning. Even numbering the portraits rather titling them tends to suck the personality out of them. It all feels rather tentative and self-contradictory. I hope that was helpful.

You have a nice variety of photos--the portraits especially are quite creative! You also have some great close-ups of insects. I notice a lot of your flower photos are taken head-on, without much variety in the angles. If you want constructive criticism, I think that's one thing you might want to experiment with. I think you could get a lot of cool shots if you try new things. I would also suggest following the rule of thirds for some of those flower shots, putting the focus of the shot a third of the way from the edge (especially the right edge), rather than in the centre. It makes for a more interesting image. But keep up the good work, there are a lot of good things happening here.

Thank you again for inviting my opinion on your Photo stream. Clearly you possess considerable natural talent as evidenced in the outstanding collection of images in your Albums. After choosing your subject the key to its successful portrayal includes:- composition, attention to detail, perspective (where appropriate), light, colours and finally processing before presentation. All your images more than comply. I've been recently experimenting with 'Macro' images of flowers and insects without a specific 'Macro' lens - with some success albeit not as sharp as yours. My processing software has considerably helped me from starting with a basic photographic elements to which I've eluded. I'm yet to attempt portrait photography, but clearly you have a 'Special Talent' in being able to place your subjects at ease. Your work is indeed of a very high standard. They all appear very relaxed and comfortable in your presence and not camera shy. Long may this continue!
