I spent 25 years in the newspaper business as a photographer, Photo Editor and Chief Photographer. Winner, 1989 Photographer of the Year, NC Press Association.

I have had thousands of images published and won over 200 individual picture awards.

Does that mean I know every damn thing about photos?

No, but I know some things.

So many years on deadline left me with the ability to see through pictures and made cropping and editing decisions quickly. I love to teach and help, although I don't pull punches. If it works and is good I will tell you. If it does not work, I will tell you that as well. The end result is to make better pictures.

My time in photography is now spent more in teaching than shooting.

For me it was years of trial and error, and when 30, 000 people see your error the next day in the newspaper, you learn in a hurry.

Bottom line, I can help you along the path to becoming a better photographer and enjoy doing so.
