I was born here in Vancouver Washington, on June 9th 1996. My parents are Crystal and Dale Alexander. My dad’s art is mainly music, but never really took it to another level. My mom however doesn’t really do anything artistic, besides doodling on old envelopes. Not everyone was meant to be an artist.
I’ve grown up in the same house as the day I was born. I am apart of a religious family, Christian, but really just your average family. Church on Sundays, home-cooked meals every night. I was taught to care for others, and put others first. I get this from my mom. I got grounded when I did bad things, I had birthday parties, and I spent the night at my friends’ houses on the weekends once in a while. My life has had ups and downs, but those ups and downs I think help you GROW.
I haven’t had any artistic training really. I bought my own first digital camera, and taught myself how to use it. It was only a point-and-shoot, but still, all artists have to start somewhere. I plan to take AP photography classes my sophomore year of high school, and probably continue to visit my photography teacher to see if I can get any other small (or big) opportunities to do for the school. I am thinking about joining the yearbook club to take photos for the yearbook, I think that could be a good way to explore other types of photography. Then after high school, I want to proceed to an art college for even more photography learning there, and eventually, after a decade or so of experience, start my own business.
I’m not really sure what led me to this artistic path. I always liked taking pictures, and honestly it sounded like a really interesting and fun class to take in high school. Before high school, when I just had my point-and-shoot, I started getting really interested in taking pictures of people and nature, so that also motivated me to more deeply explore photography. Also, just the love of the things given to me around me, I treasure, so I like to keep some kind of memory of important, and not-so important times of my life, and hopefully later on, others as well.
